Elsa Escobar has been the executive director of the Fundación Natura Colombia since 1997.She has an undergraduate degree from the Universidad de Antioquia in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Previously, she was the executive director of the Tumbes-Chocó-Magdalena biodiversity program. She has worked as a consultant of the Fund for the Protection of the Environment José Celestino Mutis, and as the department head of the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology,and Environmental Studies (IDEAM).
