Eduardo Behrentz is a civil engineer from the Universidad de los Andes. He has a Master’s degree in environmental engineering and a doctorate in environmental science and engineering from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he graduated with honors. He has been an undergraduate and postgraduate coordinator, director of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and dean of the Engineering Department at the Universidad de los Andes, where he was director of the Center for Investigation of Environmental Engineering and founder of the Urban and Regional Sustainability Group. Currently he is the deputy to the vice-chancellor of Universidad de los Andes, a columnist at El Tiempo, and member of various directives such as: el Colegio Anglo Colombiano, el Fondo de Financiamiento de Infraestructura Educativa (FFIE) of the National Ministry of Education, la Fundación ACRES de la Cámara Colombiana de la Infraestructura (CCI), and el Banco Finandina. He is also a board member of the Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura (ANI) and for the Programa Nacional de Ingeniería de Colciencias. He was senior partner at Multivac Consultores, and campaign manager for David Luna (for mayor of Bogotá) from 2010 to 2011.
