Since 2012, the Asamblea de Ciclismo Urbano Caracas (ACUC) is an NGO formed by 15 groups promoting the use of bicycle in the city. Their objective is to encourage the mass use of this transportation mode through civic events, informative workshops, forums and publications. According to ACUC, to make Caracas a bike-friendly city, local governments would have to create inclusive policies that guarantee material and legal conditions for bicycle users.

Four times a year, the ACUC organizes thematic “rodadas” to promote bicycle use and show how it can be used for mass transportation in Venezuelan cities. The “rodada” is a diverting way to incite the citizens to ride bikes. These events gather close to 400 participants of all ages. On the 12th of March 2017, the Rodada de Altura – La Bicicleta es Mujer (The bike is woman) was organized in commemoration of the International Women’s Day, to remind people that cities are for everyone and that every user and individual has to be respected.
