HangOut 26 May: The Breathable City: Dealing with air pollution to improve urban health

Jenny Bates, Friends of the Earth 

Jenny Bates joined the staff of Friends of the Earth in the UK as London Campaigner in 2003 after volunteering for their local group in Greenwich in London. Jenny worked on the dire air pollution in the capital, and then extended this work to cover it nationally, signing up Friends of the Earth as a founding partner of the Healthy Air Campaign coalition in 2011, and becoming the organisation’s air pollution expert and campaigner.

Dario Hidalgo, World Resources Institute

Es el Director de Transporte del Instituto de Recursos Mundiales WRI, con trabajo en México, Brasil, Turquía, India, China y Colombia. Tiene 24 años de experiencia como funcionario y asesor de gobiernos locales y nacionales, y agencias de desarrollo en América Latina, Asia y África. Fue Subgerente de Transmilenio SA, y director del proyecto metro de Bogotá. Es Ingeniero Civil de la Universidad de los Andes y cuenta con Maestría y Doctorado de la Universidad Estatal de Ohio. Cree que el vehículo del futuro está hace tiempos con nosotros: la bici.

Kristie Daniel, Health Bridge
Kristie Daniel is the Program Director for Livable Cities at HealthBridge. HealthBridge is an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization that works with partners world-wide to improve health and health equity through research, policy and action. Kristie’s role as Program Director includes providing technical assistance to local partners in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. She supports program planning and implementation, monitoring of local programs, and she represents HealthBridge at international meetings related to Livable Cities. Kristie’s head office is in Ottawa but she travels extensively to meet with HealthBridge’s local partners.
